Nha Trang named world's cheapest destination for five-star luxury stays
VOV.VN - Nha Trang, formerly a city and now a ward in the southcentral province of Khanh Hoa, has been named the world’s cheapest destination for five-star luxury stays, with luxury hotel rooms averaging just £70 (US$95) per night, according to the latest Hotel Price Index 2026 published by Hotels.com.
Based on data from more than 11,000 travellers and international booking platforms, the report found that the Vietnamese beach destination offers the lowest average five-star hotel rates among the world's top-value luxury destinations.
Nha Trang topped the list ahead of Zaragoza in Spain and Wrocław in Poland, where the average price for a five-star hotel room was £120 (US$163) per night.
Other destinations featured in the ranking included Tirana in Albania, Riga in Latvia, Zagreb in Croatia, Sofia in Bulgaria, Heraklion on the Greek island of Crete and Tallinn in Estonia.
The report highlighted destinations offering luxury accommodation for less than £200 (US$270) per night while also examining changing travel habits and evolving definitions of luxury among travellers.
Hotels.com experts noted that booking accommodation within seven days of departure can save travellers an average of 26% compared with reservations made more than four months in advance.
The report also showed that checking in on a Sunday rather than a Saturday can reduce hotel costs by around 14%, while January remains the most affordable month for travel.
