Accordingly, Phu Vang district will receive over VND4.2 billion (US$184,800) and Phu Dien VND762 million (US$33,528) to help local fishermen buy fuel for fishing trips, communications devices, and ship insurance.

Meanwhile, under the Government’s Decree 67/2014/ND-CP on policies for fisheries development, the province in the past two years have provided preferential loans worth VND177.49 billion (US$7.8 million) for the upgrade and building of 40 fishing vessels.

In Phu Vang alone, 29 boat owners have gained approval for their applications seeking concessional loans for building and upgrading fishing boats under the decree.
