The issue was discussed during a meeting between Vietnamese Ambassador to Bulgaria Nguyen Thi Minh Nguyet and Bulgarian Minister of Justice Nikolay Naydenov in Sofia on June 22.

Both sides viewed legal and judicial cooperation as an important pillar in strengthening the legal framework that supports bilateral cooperation across multiple sectors. They agreed to increase exchanges of delegations, share experience in lawmaking and law enforcement, strengthen professional training, and expand cooperation programmes between judicial institutions of the two countries.

Digital transformation has emerged as one of the priority areas for future collaboration. Minister Naydenov noted that the sector offers significant potential for cooperation as both countries are accelerating the application of information technology to improve governance efficiency and enhance the quality of public services.

According to Naydenov, stronger exchanges between relevant agencies would help improve the effectiveness of judicial activities while better serving the needs of citizens and businesses.

He also spoke highly of Vietnam's socio-economic achievements in recent years and described Vietnam as one of its important partners in Southeast Asia.

For her part, Ambassador Nguyet stressed that legal and judicial cooperation plays a vital role in reinforcing the foundation of the Vietnam-Bulgaria Strategic Partnership.

She noted that strengthened cooperation in this area would help create favourable conditions for expanding collaboration in other sectors, including trade, investment, education and economic development.

The two sides also exchanged views on legal matters related to the Vietnamese community living in Bulgaria. They agreed to maintain dialogue and coordination mechanisms to facilitate the community's integration and support stable living and working conditions in the host country.

Nguyet said the Vietnamese Embassy in Bulgaria would continue working closely with the Bulgarian Ministry of Justice to strengthen connections between relevant agencies, contributing to the further development of the Vietnam-Bulgaria Strategic Partnership in the years ahead.
