In a meeting with Chris Drewer, Senior Vice President and Head of Global Accounts, Asia–Pacific, at Airbus Group on the morning of October 29, General Secretary Lam lauds the group’s successful cooperation with Vietnamese partners, which has contributed to the rapid and increasingly self-reliant development of Vietnam’s aviation and aerospace industries.

Later on the same day, Party chief To Lam and his spouse Ngo Phuong Ly meet with Duke of Richmond Charles Henry Gordon-Lennox and his spouse in London. The Duke of Richmond expresses delight at the growing bilateral ties, calling the visit an important milestone as both sides upgrade their ties to Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and wider collaboration across multiple sectors. On the afternoon of October 29, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer chairs an official welcome ceremony for and holds talks with General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee To Lam in London.

PM Starmer expresses his desire to work with Vietnam to advance the comprehensive development of bilateral relations, especially within the frameworks of the UK–Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (UKVFTA) and the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP). At the end of the talks, the two leaders issue a Joint declaration on the elevation of Vietnam-UK relations to Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

Also, on October 29, Party General Secretary To Lam meets with UK Deputy Prime Minister David Lammy in London. Party chief suggests that following his visit, both governments quickly draft an Action Plan, reinforce existing cooperation mechanisms, and establish new ones if needed. The aim, he says, is to strengthen collaboration, reinforce political trust, raise two-way trade to US$15 billion, and jointly launch several flagship projects that reflect the growing strength of the partnership.
