Golden seaweed season at Hon Kho – A magical beauty beneath blue sea

VOV.VN - The “golden seaweed season” at Hon Kho Island reveals a magical natural spectacle as vibrant Sargassum seaweed carpets the rocky seabed in shimmering golden-brown hues beneath the crystal-clear blue waters.

In recent days, the seaweed fields at Hon Kho, located in Nhon Hai fishing village, Quy Nhon Dong ward (Gia Lai province), have become a "golden" destination for domestic and international tourists.

The seaweed season at Hon Kho has long been a photo-hunting season, especially when the seaweed is in its most beautiful, full bloom.

During low tide, a miniature primeval forest is revealed beneath the ocean next to the Nhon Hai fishing village.

The Nhon Hai fishing village bursts into colour as yellow-brown seaweed blooms across the coastline, creating a stunning underwater landscape that captivates thousands of visitors.

Many families choose to participate in adventurous challenges such as paddleboarding into the middle of the seaweed beds, relaxing on boats while taking drones to capture beautiful moments from high above.

Some couples choose to swim together amidst a magical "golden field" in the blooming seaweed season.

Others choose scuba diving to explore the area, touch the soft seaweed, and capture mesmerizing underwater footage, deepening their appreciation for the beauty of their homeland’s seas and islands.

In the Nhon Hai fishing village, there are not only seaweed but also rare and vibrant coral reefs.

Minh Tu, 24 from Ho Chi Minh City shares: "I've been to many coastal areas, and this trip gives me indescribable feelings. Lying on a SUP board, looking down at a vibrant carpet of golden seaweed is truly unique. It's also from here that I've been able to capture some beautiful photos that will last a lifetime."

The seaweed season in Nhon Hai or other fishing villages like Nhon Ly in Quy Nhon Dong ward usually lasts for about one month, after which it quickly withers.

May-July period is the peak season for seaweed blooms, creating a breathtaking, paradise-like scene reflected in the crystal-clear, mirror-like seawater.
