With the horse set to be the zodiac animal of the upcoming lunar year, 24-karat gold-plated horse figurines have been widely introduced to the market as meaningful Tet (Lunar New Year) gifts.

In traditional culture, the horse symbolises strength, speed, bravery, loyalty, freedom and talent.

The white horse mascot, crafted from silver and plated with 24K gold, stands out thanks to its exquisite design and carries feng shui significance of luck and prosperity.

Each product takes approximately four months to complete, with most of the time devoted to brainstorming and design selection, while the sketching, design development and casting stages take about two months.

The practice of displaying and presenting zodiac animal figurines as Tet gifts is gaining popularity, reflecting the belief that such symbols bring luck and prosperity to their owners.

24K gold-plated mascots cost from a few million to tens of millions of Vietnamese dong, depending on the size and craftsmanship of the product.

Apart from 24K gold-plated mascots, gold-leaf paintings featuring the 12 zodiac animals also attract strong interest from customers during Tet. In addition, gold-plated calligraphic letters and feng shui items are displayed and sold at high-end gift shops.

On the occasion of the Lunar New Year of the Horse, sculptor Bui Van Tu has launched a collection inspired by the image of the iron horse in the legend of Saint Gióng, a symbol of the aspirations and strength of the Vietnamese people.
