VOV.VN - 15 Vietnamese businesses are seeking cooperation opportunities at Korea Import Expo 2026 (KIE 2026), the Republic of Korea’s largest annual import promotion event, that opened at the COEX Convention and Exhibition Center in Seoul on June 23.

They operate in agriculture, processed food, seafood, beverages, consumer goods and industrial products. Their participation carries particular significance as economic ties between Vietnam and the RoK continue to grow.

The RoK is currently the largest foreign investor in Vietnam, with total registered investment exceeding US$95 billion.

Bilateral trade reached nearly US$89.5 billion in 2025. Trade turnover during the five-month period of 2026 stood at around US$47.4 billion, up nearly 35% year-on-year. Vietnam is currently the Republic of Korea’s largest trading partner in ASEAN.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Vietnamese Ambassador to the RoK Vu Ho highlighted  KIE 2026 as an opportunity for Vietnamese businesses to present their products, and a meeting point between Vietnam’s production capacity and international ambitions and the demand, standards and modern distribution networks of the Korean market.

According to Vu Ho, the elevation of Vietnam-RoK ties to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership has created fresh impetus for economic, trade and investment cooperation. It has also opened new prospects in high-tech sectors such as artificial intelligence, semiconductors, digital transformation and clean energy.

“The presence of Vietnamese businesses at the expo shows the growing competitiveness of Vietnamese products as well as their ability to participate more deeply in regional and global value chains,” Vu Ho stressed.

Representatives of the Korea Importers Association (KOIMA) said Vietnam is among the RoK’s most important economic partners. According to KOIMA, Vietnamese products are gaining greater trust among consumers in the RoK thanks to stable quality and their ability to meet market demand.

During the expo, Vietnamese businesses will take part in business-matching activities and hold meetings with importers, distributors and major retail systems in the RoK to expand market reach and seek new business partnerships.

The event is expected to help boost Vietnamese exports, enhance supply chain connections and further economic cooperation between Vietnam and the RoK.
