According to Tran Quang Minh, head of the organising board, the regional contest promotes not only regional beauties but also friendship and unity in the bloc.

Each member state will send its representatives to the competition, which has accepted registration from March 15. In Vietnam, the eligible candidates must previously win one of the top three titles at a national beauty contest.

Three outstanding contestants of each country will be selected for the final, scheduled to begin on June 1.

The finale will be held on July 1. The winner will take part in various international cultural exchanges to promote ASEAN tourism.
