National concert raises VND4.2 billion for flood victims in central region
VOV.VN - A total of VND4.2 billion was donated to flood victims in the central region at a national concert held at the Vietnam Exposition Centre in Hanoi on the evening of August 26.
Despite heavy rain and flooded roads, thousands of spectators braved the weather to attend the "Vietnam in My Heart" concert in support of residents affected by Typhoon Kajiki.
The concert, organised by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, raised VND4.2 billion which would be sent to flood victims.
“This concert was not just about music, it was a gathering of compassion, generosity, and hope. We are deeply moved and grateful for the support, and every contribution will directly reach the people in need in Central Vietnam,” said organisers.
Featuring over 20 performances, the concert brought together a lineup of popular young Vietnamese artists, including Soobin Hoang Son, Hoa Minzy, Erik, Duc Phuc, Anh Tu, Quan A.P, Duong Hoang Yen, and the band Chillies. Performances blended traditional artistry with modern flair, offering audiences an emotionally rich experience.
The art programme took place part of the series of events “80 years of Journey of Independence – Freedom – Happiness” to celebrate the 80th anniversary of National Day (September 2).
Kajiki has wrought havoc across central Vietnam after slamming into the region on August 25. Preliminary data shows the typhoon and subsequent floods and landslides have left 7 dead, 1 missing and 34 injured. The natural disasters have also damaged tens of thousands of homes and public facilities, and flooded tens of thousands of hectares of rice and subsidiary crops, as well as several thousand hectares of aquaculture farms.
Despite the adverse weather, the concert drew tens of thousands of attendees, leaving a powerful impression of national unity and heartfelt support for the people of Central Vietnam.
