VOV.VN - A photo exhibition titled “Little Hanoi: The Next Generation” opened in Prague on June 17, featuring portraits and stories of second-generation Vietnamese living in the Czech Republic who are preserving their cultural roots while making meaningful contributions to their host society.

The event was organised by the Viet Up association in collaboration with the Czech Centres in Prague and Hanoi, under the patronage of Czech Senate President Miloš Vystrčil and Vietnamese Ambassador to the Czech Republic Duong Hoai Nam, with the support of Czech and Vietnamese businesses.

Addressing the event, Hynek Kmoníček, former Czech Ambassador to Vietnam, welcomed the exhibition's return to the Czech Republic following its successful presentation in Hanoi in November last year.

He said the exhibition's continued appeal reflects growing public interest in younger generations and in efforts to preserve cultural identity in an increasingly interconnected world.

Meanwhile, Ambassador Duong Hoai Nam described the exhibition as more than a celebration of Vietnamese culture and youth creativity. He said it also serves as a bridge promoting exchanges and cooperation between Vietnam and the Czech Republic.

Young generations play a crucial role in Vietnam's development and in fostering the traditional friendly cooperation between Vietnam and the Czech Republic, the Ambassador noted.

On the occasion, he encouraged second-generation Vietnamese in the Czech Republic to maintain their cultural heritage and further improve their language skills, creativity and entrepreneurial capabilities to meet the demands of a rapidly changing world.

According to Tran Van Dang, chairman of the Vietnamese Association in the Czech Republic, the individuals featured in the exhibition represent more than personal success stories. Their experiences reflect the increasingly deep integration of the Vietnamese community into Czech society while maintaining strong cultural ties to their ancestral homeland.

He expressed confidence that the exhibition would help local residents gain a deeper understanding of the Vietnamese community, thereby fostering stronger people-to-people connections between the two countries.

“Little Hanoi: The Next Generation” is the first exhibition in the Czech Republic dedicated exclusively to second-generation Vietnamese.

The exhibition introduces 76 outstanding individuals who were born or raised in the Czech Republic. Through their personal stories, it portrays the experience of growing up between two cultures and at the same time highlights the growing contributions of young Vietnamese-Czechs to Czech society.
