Nguyen Truong Tien, deputy chairman of the Council, said that after nine years of operating, his council has granted ASEAN qualifying certificates to 108 engineers across the country. However, this figure is still modest when compared with a total of more than 600,000 engineers who are working in Vietnam at present.
The assessment process including granting certificates to people who follow the ASEAN Engineer Registration Programme is necessary to ensure the professionalism of Vietnamese engineers, especially in the construction sector in order to minimise accidents at construction sites.
